"Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul is holding up consideration of the fiscal 2013 defense authorization bill over an amendment he plans to offer that would require a jury trial for Americans detained in terrorism investigations."

newsweek:

Barack Obama, moments ago: ”I am continuing in effect for an additional year the national emergency that was declared on September 14, 2001, with respect to the terrorist threat.”

Hope and change! In other news, Obama’s black-bagging law—the one that allows the government to kidnap Americans and disappear them into military detention such as Guantanamo Bay—has been blocked by a federal judge, saying that it violates the 1st and 5th Amendments. Is this considered an Obama achievement?

Hmmm … Bradley Manning has been detained without trial for over 2 years.
In Guantanmo, some have stayed for over a decade.
I wonder where the door is ….

Good guy Obama on CISPA

He killed SOPA. He killed PIPA. He’s openly stood against CISPA and says he will VETO it. Time to give him props gaise.

Obama’s got dis guise.

Shit brah. I have been giving him props for this. B)

Wait a damned minute.  You people seriously think Obama was the one to stop SOPA and PIPA?  Do you guys understand the American Legislation Process?  A bill goes to the House of Representatives first, then the Senate, then the President either signs it or vetos it.  Obama had zero say on the matter.  To give him any credit on the subject is naivety at its finest.
Did you guys know that Obama also said he’d veto the NDAA?  That worked out well, right?  He vetoed it, right?  No, he fucking signed it on New Years Eve while the public was getting shit faced.
Who are the morons this meme is referring to?  I sure hope it’s the people who are giving props to Obama on his ‘defending internet freedom’ because you guys have zero knowledge of the process.
Are you people even aware that Obama has been giving the Okay to kill ‘terrorists’ with drone strikes?  He has killed American citizens in other countries without due process and without the individual being convicted of ANYTHING.  He’s not killing terrorists anymore, as much as you may try to argue he is, he’s killing innocent fucking people.
You guys know about ACTA?  Probably not, well he signed that.  Yeah he’s really protecting the internet…
You people are delusional if you think Obama has been saving the internet.  Maybe do some outside research other than reading tumblr’s circle jerk fest over Obama.

"First, in addressing global terror and violent extremism, we need the kind of comprehensive counter-terrorism strategy I called for last August. We need to strengthen security partnerships to take out terrorist networks, while investing in education and opportunity. We need to give our national security agencies the tools they need, while restoring the adherence to rule of law that helps us win the battle for hearts and minds. This means closing Guantanamo, restoring habeas corpus, and respecting civil liberties."

"I want to go before the United Nations as President and say, “America’s back.” … That we are not a country that runs prisons which lock people away without ever telling them why they are there or what they are charged with. That is not who we are."

It’s important to actually understand what Obama has done here. Apart from all the confusion regarding all the legal confabulations going on, he has done it. He has signed a law that allows American citizens to be held without charge, indefinitely. It doesn’t matter what Obama says he will or won’t do. And he won’t be president forever. He has destroyed habeas corpus, our most fundamental right. He is a criminal beyond compare. He deserves the worst punishment. Except for Truman, who used atomic bombs against Japan, Obama is the worst president ever.
No president should be able to sign a law and then say he will do as he pleases to violate that law if he wants to. It’s an insult to our intelligence to say he won’t do it. I don’t believe him in any case. He has already proven that he will do just as Bush has done in every way and worse. This law he signed also makes it impossible for him to close Guantanamo. And he is such a two faced lying fuck that he used a signing statement, after criticizing Bush for using signing statements.
